Aircraft Rescue Fire Facility #33 – Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
The Aircraft Rescue Fire Facility #33 is a new addition to a series of existing aircraft rescue fire facilities at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The 21,000-SF facility, located on a 4.25 acre site near the airport’s fifth runway, houses 8,000 square feet of space for rescue and firefighting equipment. The remaining area accommodates fourteen firefighters and administrative personnel. A mezzanine area above the living quarters allows fire fighters to practice training drills and simulate real-life situations.
With CxGBS providing LEED documentation and administration guidance, the station achieved a LEED Silver rating in July 2007, making it the first fire station to apply sustainable development principles using the LEED rating system.
