Cherokee County Administration Building
CxGBS began a relationship with Cherokee County by providing building forensics and commissioning on four of the county fire stations. After the stations were built, CxGBS was contracted to provide building forensics services to identify moisture intrusion in the buildings. After commissioning the remediation to repair the buildings, CxGBS teamed with the county to commission a $22 million, three-story administration building and conference center, including an auditorium, and 8,000+ SF of meeting space to host 575 visitors. The project was awarded LEED Silver certification.
Added value through CxGBS® services:
- Observed flexible flashing not lapped per industry standards. If uncorrected, improper lapping of flashing could have allowed moisture intrusion into the facility
- Observed multiple locations where flexible ductwork was installed with severe compression. Excessive compression of the flexible duct creates additional static pressure loss in the system, leading to increased fan energy use in the system
