Edna Horton Dormitory

The Edna Horton dormitory was originally built in 1968 and was pulled offline in 2013 due to structural concerns. In the recent renovation, the entire exterior of the building was replaced, including new brick veneer, windows, and a new roof. Because the building is listed on the Archive and History Certificate, the renovated building looks similar to the original building.

Interior renovations including the building received full lighting upgrades and new elevators with all mechanical systems upgraded. CxGBS® provided Holistic Commissioning® of the building enclosure, HVAC, HVAC controls, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems during the design, construction, and warranty phases.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • Identified numerous issues of water intrusion through the wall and window systems
  • Identified issues with mechanical expansion loops, ponding issues associated with roof drainage discharge, and piping insulation issues
  • Followed up with seasonal checks to verify performance of the building outside air units
