District 8 Complex – Mississippi Department of Public Safety

CxGBS provided Holistic Commissioning from pre-design through warranty phases, including building enclosure and MEP for the new construction of a five-building public safety campus in Biloxi, Mississippi, following Hurricane Katrina. The facility included separate buildings for the Bureau of Narcotics & Investigation, the State Highway Patrol, a small crime lab, grounds maintenance, and vehicle maintenance.

The facility required extensive pressure mapping to ensure IEQ requirements for strict humidity and temperature control requirements in laboratory spaces. In addition, the facility was designed to withstand 140 mph winds and provide support for disaster response and recovery operations.

Added value through CxGBS® Services:

  • Identified instances in which demand-based ventilation controls were programmed incorrectly and assisted with modifications to the systems
  • Identified inefficiencies in control sequences for Energy Recovery Units and provided guidance resulting in more efficient operation
  • Identified instances in which carbon dioxide control devices were installed in place of specified carbon monoxide sensors at no additional expense to owner
