FDR’s Little White House Museum

Visitors to the museum at Roosevelt’s Little White House State Historic Site get close to history when they discover Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 1938 Ford convertible with hand controls while listening to his Fireside Chats over a 1930s radio. This important historical site, where FDR initially came in search of a cure for his polio, eventually became his presidential retreat.

To provide an ideal space for visitors to view museum exhibits chronicling the life and times of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources constructed a new museum and visitor center for Roosevelt’s presidential retreat. The environmental impact was minimalized during site development and construction to preserve and protect natural resources. Construction waste management, reduced potable water use, and optimized energy performance were also achieved.

Using Holistic Commissioning, CxGBS helped to ensure that the museum met very special requirements for maintaining indoor temperature and humidity conditions to maintain historic artifacts. The project was awarded a LEED Silver certification.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • Water reduction through low water-consuming toilets
