Armed Forces Reserve Center – GA National Guard
The Armed Forces Reserve Center was a new building for the Georgia National Guard (GaNG), situated on 21.7 acres and designed to blend into the existing architecture of its surroundings. The facility consists of two stories with a full basement and one out-building for flammable materials storage.
The facility provides a 5,506 SF data center, administrative offices and conference rooms, 9,500 SF of IT support space, classrooms and a distance learning center, 3,000 SF of acoustically designed rehearsal space, supply rooms and storage areas, and a 7,228 SF assembly hall, dining facility, and kitchen.
CxGBS provided Enhanced Commissioning from pre-design through warranty on the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building enclosure. To help the Owner accomplish the goals of low maintenance and operating costs, CxGBS also provided LEED Project Administration to assist the facility in achieving LEED Silver certification.
Added value through CxGBS® services:
- The initial program did not include where the users would store chemicals. CxGBS discovered this as part of the development of the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR).
- The building and its systems were designed to allow 21 percent better energy efficiency than ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2004, to provide exceptional indoor air quality and to utilize natural light for offices and meeting rooms.
