Day-Brite Capri Omega Lighting Institute (DCO)

At the DCO Lighting Institute, the first Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED) certified lighting institute in the country, visitors are learning about high-efficiency lighting that helps reduce operations costs, improve occupant performance, and reduce greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. The Lighting Institute serves as an education lab for specifiers such as architects, engineers, and lighting designers, as well as building owners, directors, facility managers, distributors, and contractors.

Our Holistic Commissioning process included the building enclosure, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Included in this Holistic Commissioning process were recommendations to designers through the commissioning review process to maximize the buildings LEED certification rating, energy, and water efficiency.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • 40 percent reduction of water use within the building
  • 35 percent reduction of lighting power in addition to proper use of daylight sensors and motion sensors
  • 90 percent of equipment is Energy Star rated
  • 50 percent of materials used in the project were manufactured within 500 miles
  • Low emitting (low VOC content) adhesive, paints, and carpets were used
