Dunbar Elementary School

Dunbar Elementary School is a three-story public elementary school in Atlanta, Georgia, with an Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC) attached on the ground floor. The project consisted of a complete renovation of the existing school, originally built in 1962, and included two one-story additions. The building is 92,300 SF with a goal of attaining LEED® Silver certification.

Aside from classrooms, the building includes a multi-purpose room, media center, music room, technology room, offices for faculty and staff, as well as the ELRC on the ground floor. CxGBS® serviced as both the LEED® consultant and commissioning authority for the Dunbar Elementary School project.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • Working in conjunction with the owner, architect, electrical, and mechanical engineers, CxGBS® provided guidance on finding energy efficient solutions that meet the needs of the school.
  • As part of this process, CxGBS® performed energy model simulations of four proposed system designs for the school to assist in making a final, energy-efficient system selection for the building.
