George Washington Carver High School

The new George Washington Carver High School is a replacement high school located in Muscogee County.  Located on a 22-acre site, this 235,354 SF project consists of a new two-story high school building designed for 1,250 students in grades 9–12 (with capacity for future expansion for up to 1,600 students).  The building is designed to focus on the connection between student and teacher performance and the indoor environment.  Features include a 660-seat performing arts theater, media center, gymnasium, state-of-the-art engineering technology, automotive technology, construction technology, vocational classrooms, labs, conference rooms, administrative offices, as well as baseball, softball, and practice fields.

CxGBS utilized its expertise in green schools as it provided LEED® certification services and Enhanced Commissioning for LEED® as part of the building team for the Muscogee County School District. CxGBS® developed a Sustainable Operations Manual and provided staff training to improve indoor air quality through green housekeeping.  The facility was completed in time for the 2012–2013 school year and achieved LEED® Silver Certification.  Carver High School is the first school in the Muscogee County school district to be LEED® certified.
