Guyton Hall – University of Mississippi

After restoring historic Guyton Hall, the University of Mississippi School of Education needed additional classroom and advising space. The two-story Guyton Hall Annex provides an additional 11,000 SF of classroom and advising space for the school while maintaining the exterior character of the existing building.

CxGBS® provided pre-design, design, construction, and warranty phase commissioning to help ensure that the goals of the owner and using agency were met. Our scope included commissioning the building envelope, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • Design phase commissioning including reviews of design drawings and specifications at schematic design, design development, and construction document submittals.
  • Architectural design reviews identified issues such as missing vapor barrier, flashing, and sealants in exterior wall details.
  • Mechanical design reviews recommended improvements such as further detail and specification of sequence of operations and interaction of controls.
  • Recommendations for improvements in control sequences and building automation system associated with the energy recovery ventilator during occupied conditions.
