Johnson Hall – Jackson State University
This project involved the demolition of the existing Johnson Hall and construction of a new three-story, 31,353 SF facility for the Fine Arts Department at Jackson State University. The new building houses classrooms, faculty offices, and fine arts galleries and labs as well as the campus ITS hub and campus Emergency Operations Center.
The building enclosure and MEP systems were all commissioned as part of CxGBS’s Holistic Commissioning® services.
“CxGBS staff has always gone out of the way to make sure that as the client, we are satisfied with the services they are providing. From pre-design meetings and helping us to identify issues, the staff is always professional and works well with project’s teams in a collaborative effort to develop solutions. CxGBS has a very strong representation in Mississippi, and they consistently meet or exceed scheduling and quality expectations.” —Rick Snowden, Deputy Executive Director (retired)
Added value through CxGBS® services:
- Observed multiple water intrusion paths at roof curbs during roof flood testing
- Observed incorrect lighting controls in classroom area which would not allow lighting at projection screen to be independently controlled
- Tested redundancy and control of computer room AC units to observe proper functionality during loss of power in campus IT hub
