Oak Ridge High School

The Oak Ridge High School renovation was an occupied building project and a great success, achieving LEED Silver certification, an indicator that they are a leader in energy efficiency and environmental design and that they have a concern about the ever-changing environment. The school was also recognized for their leadership in design with a Citation of Excellence Award from Learning by Design, a publication of the American School Board Journal. The school was a 2009 recipient honored at the American Association of School Administrators annual conference. The renovation and addition were continuously occupied during construction.

Added value through CxGBS® Services:

  • Observed incorrect installation of new window systems which led to points of water intrusion and worked with the team to correct the installation procedure and eliminate points of water intrusion
  • Observed make-up air for kitchen hood was mixing with conditioned air for kitchen space and worked with the team to resolve the issue to reduce energy consumption and increase comfort of the occupants
