Pi Beta Phi Sorority House
The newly constructed Pi Beta Phi Sorority House is over 20,000 SF with 20 bedrooms, including rooms for the chapter president and the house director. The façade and architectural style of the house was designed in keeping with the surrounding buildings on the campus. The house was a painted brick exterior with porches on the exterior. Inside are dining and study halls, as well as a formal living room, library, study rooms, and TV lounges.
The living area, kitchen, and banquet spaces are each served by individual single space air handling units. The leadership housing areas are served by small split-system air handling units. The sorority member bedrooms are each served by a cartridge style VRF unit. The indoor VRF units for each floor are controlled by a single outdoor unit. For this system, all units on a floor were only allowed to function in the mode the main floor controller was set to.
Pi Phi is the first sorority house in the country to be recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council with a LEED® Silver Certification for new construction.
