Poultry Science Complex – Mississippi State University

The Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University is one of six poultry science degree granting departments remaining in the United States. The new Poultry Science facility at Mississippi State University provides 36,000 SF of classrooms, offices, laboratories, and support spaces in support of the program.

This project integrates both building automation controls and lab controls into a single user-friendly front-end system that helps the owner have a clear picture of what is happening in the building.

CxGBS applied their Holistic Commissioning® process to the building enclosure, HVAC, HVAC controls, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and renewable energy systems from schematic design through construction and warranty. The project is currently in the construction phase.

Added value through CxGBS® services:

  • Identified roof leaks that damaged ceiling and wall materials, which resulted in corrective work and new materials.
  • Identified condensation on the ceilings of the 2nd floor, which resulted in correction of insulation, sealing of the perimeter of the attic, and replacement of damaged ceiling tiles.
  • Identified wall leak, which led to consequent repair of drywall and insulation.
  • Addressed issues associated with building mock up and piping expansion loops, which were not provided as indicated on construction documents.
