Shaw Family Health Center

The Shaw Family Health Center is a new stand-alone health clinic providing primary care, health coaching, and physical therapy services for Shaw Industries employees in the local area. The facility is a single story, 9,861 SF building consisting of 15 exam rooms, a procedure space, 3 health coach offices, a physical therapy suite, and a lab and testing area. Building mechanical systems that were commissioned by CxGBS included, packaged rooftop unit heat pumps, split system heat pumps, and ductless slit systems. Electrical and lighting systems commissioned included switchboards and distribution panel boards, occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, lighting controls, interior and exterior lighting.

Added Value through CxGBS® Services:

CxGBS provided added value though our commissioning efforts during all phases of the project.

  • Building enclosure site observations identified weather and thermal barrier issues such as insufficient application thickness of weather barrier and missing rigid insulation.
  • Site observations and testing of the HVAC systems identified improperly sealed vapor barrier on HVAC duct work, improperly installed exhaust fans, non-functioning RTU economizer controls, and return air temperature sensors out of calibration.
  • Testing of the daylighting sensors identified improper setup of the controls. CxGBS worked with the installing contractor to provide guidance in the proper setup of the sensors.  CxGBS observed proper functioning of corrected sensor setup.
