Vehicle Maintenance Building – GA Air National Guard

We are proud to have provided commissioning services for the 165th Airlift Wing Vehicle Maintenance Building located at Savannah International Airport in Savannah, Georgia.  Built and commissioned to LEED – BD+C 2009 to achieve LEED Silver certification, the 5,500 SF facility serves as maintenance and storage for the air-wing’s fire-fighting vehicles.

Added Value through CxGBS® Services:

  • During design, CxGBS identified a number of items which improved system performance and avoided problems during construction. Specifically, CxGBS identified an opportunity to reduce energy consumption associated with heaters in vehicle maintenance bays through controls interlocks with bay doors.
  • In addition, CxGBS identified a number of coordination-related issues during the design process in which equipment was inaccessible, contractor requirements were in conflict, and specified circuit characteristics were not appropriate for equipment requirements.
  • During construction, CxGBS identified instances in which water hammer arrestors were not installed in accordance with contract documents and identified instances in which installed equipment was unable to meet occupant thermal requirements due to thermostat placement that was inappropriate. CxGBS provided guidance relative to appropriate thermostat re-location to correct the problem.
